Here’s a song I wrote earlier this year, “Morning Light.”
It’s a song for people who keep holding on even when their world starts to cave in.
The bridge part, “known yet unknown, dying yet we live on,” is taken from 2 Corinthians 6:9. It describes the hellish experiences of the writer—and I think—some of us as well (whether literally or figuratively).
Lyrics:
I’ve been looking at you
Watching you fight these battles
It’s just like the sound of the night
I’m as silent as the stars can be
-
And I wish I could tell you all of my secrets
And all the darkness that lingers in my heart
We’re all the same, waking up amidst a war
-
Dying to meet the morning light
As we clash against the tides
Dying to meet the morning light
Somewhere beyond the stars we belong
-
I wonder, just how far you’d go to find all the answers?
It’s just like the sound of the rain
I’m hearing our voices cry
-
And I wish I could tell you all of my secrets
And all the darkness that lingers in my heart
We’re all the same, waking up amidst a war
-
Dying to meet the morning light
As we clash against the tides
And in the wake of our fall, we rise again
Somewhere beyond the stars we belong
-
Hear the sound of our voices against the tides
We’re all the same, yearning for the other side
Known yet unknown, dying yet we live on
-
Dying to meet the morning light
As we clash against the tides
Dying to meet the morning light
Somewhere beyond the stars we belong
